About Us

Any individual interested in supporting energy efficiency and renewable energy and in transforming the energy basis of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket is encouraged to become a CIRenew member. Those committed to working together to accelerate progress toward a sustainable energy future are welcome to serve on the CIRenew Steering Committee. Members of the 2008 Steering Committee are listed at right, and their credentials are characterized briefly below. Individuals and organizations collaborating in specific areas are listed as Partners.

Member: CIRenew membership is open to the public. As a member, you join a community with a common interest: increased reliance on energy efficiency and renewable energy at the individual, local, and regional levels within the Cape & Islands region. You also join the local chapter of the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA), the leading U.S. regional membership organization focused on promoting the understanding, development, and adoption of energy conservation and renewable energy technologies.  Visit the Membership page to learn about CIRenew/NESEA membership benefits and fees.  Visit the Events page for information on CIRenew chapter meetings, which are open to the public and are held at varying locations about once a month.

Steering Committee: Participation on CIRenew's Steering Committee is open to individuals and organizations committed to sharing expertise, pooling resources, and advancing efficiency and renewables through collaborative endeavors, as spelled out in CIGoGreen: The Cape & Islands Regional Energy Action Plan. Members work together to increase public awareness of energy-related issues, challenges, and opportunities and to engage stakeholders in accelerating the local transition to a sustainable energy future.

The CIGoGreen: Report to Community & Call to Action is being released publicly at the end of January 2008, reflecting results from a "Beyond Cape Wind" stakeholder process and community planning activities pursued through CIRenew. Visit the CIGoGreen website for more information.  The Steering Committee is charged with implementing the CIGoGreen plan; individuals must also be members of CIRenew/NESEA, serve on a CIRenew working group, and help organize chapter meetings.  Steering Committee meetings are held each month, generally on the second Friday, while members collaborate on a near-daily basis.

For information on Steering Committee meetings, which are open to all chapter members as well as the general public, contact Chris Powicki at 774.487.4614 or chrisp@weeinfo.com.
